ABOUT US
The Law & You Newsletter and Website are the brainchild of Kimberly Walsh. She is the writer and designer of both the newsletter and the website. Kim believes that it is important that people have a better understanding of the role that law plays in our day to day lives.

Kim, who grew up in Cornwall, Ontario, has been interested in law since she was 12 years old. Following her graduation from Ecole Secondaire La Citadelle, she attended the University of Ottawa. At Ottawa U she earned her Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in English.

Kim’s passion for sports, and the Olympic Games in particular, led her to apply to the University of Calgary for law school. She was accepted and in 1986 she headed west to Alberta. While at law school she participated in Student Legal Assistance, the law school’s legal clinic. During her third year of law she focussed her studies on business law. And oh yeah she did spend two great weeks at the Calgary Olympics.

In 1989, Kim returned to Cornwall where she articled with six-man law firm. In 1990 she enrolled in the bar admission course and in March 1991 she was admitted to the Ontario Bar.

Following her call to the bar, Kim spent five years working for a tenant advocacy organization in Ottawa. During that time she helped inform and organize tenants. She also spent a fair amount of time representing tenants before the Rent Control Board.

Kim has spent the last 10 years working in the area of legal research. This work includes the development of newsletters that law firms send to their clients. She has decided to expand that concept so that more people can learn about their rights and obligations under the law.
