| Have you been thinking about going into business for yourself? In order to help you make an informed decision you need to know if you have what it takes. The following will help you identify some of the areas you need to consider.
Do you have lots of energy? Do you have lots of confidence and self-esteem? Are you organized? Are you able to wear many different hats? Are you a leader? Are you a doer? Are you a self-starter? Do you have self-discipline to spare? How well do you handle failure? Are you a quitter? Do you learn from your mistakes? Do you believe in yourself? Do you believe in your idea? Asking yourself the tough questions Why do you want to have your own business? Are you labouring under the illusion that it will be an instant success, that you will have lots of money, that you can goof off whenever you like? Have you had any business training? Do you know how much money you will need to get your business started? Have you saved any money? Do you know where you will get the money you need? Have you figured out what net income per year you expect to get from the business? Have you figured out how much money you need to live on? Do you know whether businesses like the one you want to open are doing well in your community and in the rest of the country? Do you have the support of your family? |
